GROWING GUIDE
Sow at any time of the year except mid-summer as too much heat may produce spindly plants.
- Sow well spaced on the surface of a moist, well drained seed compost in pots or trays.
- Seal inside a polythene bag or place in a propagator and maintain a temperature of 15-20C.
- Germination should begin after 30 days, though some stubborn seeds may take many months.
- Keep checking to make sure the compost does not dry out – it should be slightly moist.
- As the seedlings emerge, increase ventilation by opening the bag or propagator vents.
- Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle into 9cm pots.
- Grow on in cooler conditions with plenty of light, but shaded from direct sun.
- When established, in mid spring gradually acclimatise to outdoor conditions by placing plants outside during the day for 2 weeks before planting out.
